MIAMI GARDENS, Florida - Even before they'd finished celebrating their own season-opening win the New York Jets were well versed in what happened to Tom Brady in New England.

"Everybody I talked to said it's a torn ACL," said one Jets player. "Players AND coaches. When we came in here that's what people were saying, 'Brady's got a torn ACL.' "

The Jets play the Patriots next week in the Meadowlands and the balance of power is significantly altered if Brady is lost for a significant amount of time.

A torn ACL would lead to a significant amount of lost time.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said after the Patriots beat the Chiefs in New England, "I don't have any update on Tom. They're looking at him, doing some tests on him. I don't have any information yet. Not that anybody would be interested in that."

Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss said the play by safety Bernard Pollard that led to the injury was dirty.

"I don't really want to get into it, but me personally, I think it was dirty," Moss said (thanks to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe and his excellent blog on that get). "Like I said, I didn't really see anything. I was running down the field. When I came back in (and watched it), it looked dirty to me. I've never been a dirty player. I honestly don't even know how to play dirty. I just play the game. Any time you see something like that, that looks foul, it looks dirty, it opens your eyes. So, me personally, it looked dirty."

If Brady has a torn ACL, his season is over. And the play on which Brady was injured looked a lot like the one on which Carson Palmer tore his ACL in the 2005 playoffs. Palmer was iffy at the start of the 2006 season but did make it onto the field. .

finally , maybe the fins can actually have a chance now, even though the second stringer qb had a great game when brady went down.

Well I hope Moss still has a good year. Gonna fuck up my fantasy if not. Cassel's the new qb for sure according to some Patsy player in the article linked below.

Cassel's preseason was fucking horrible, but he did play with the secondary and preseason is preseason.

cassel had a 116 QB rating, and Culpepper is done, that guy's knees are as stable as Shaft's asshole. i would stick with cassel for the meantime moss will make any QB look good. Culpepper never had the same stats after Moss left he went from a good QB to a shitty one. Moss is probably the best WR to ever play the game, yes even better than Rice, look at the shitty ass QBs Moss played with can you imagine if he always played with BRady. Rice played with Montana for a long time.

edit qb rating was 116.

As a hardcore Patriot fan, I still feel we can win the division. Playoffs... well we'll see how Cassel plays in the regular season.

It sucks, I was depressed when we lost the Super Bowl for a good 2-3 months, fucking David Tyre what a lucky POS. And now with Brady out I want to just skip the next year of college until football season starts again but ANYTHING can happen in the playoffs, hell, we won it with no running game and aside from Pittsburgh no team looked amazing.

First off winning this division really doesn't say too much, the toughest opponent we're going to face is going to be ny with Farve as their QB, I guess buffalo is OK, but still not that great, the fins are pretty sad, so yeah the division is still easily won (depending on how fucking AWFUL cassel is)

And only depressed for 2-3 months? I'm still depressed we lost to Indy in the second half in the championship game 2 seasons ago, so depressed is a understatement on how I feel about losing that superbowl to fucking another goddamn manning..

I just hope Brady will be back next season, because a fully torn ACL could mean his career (unlikly, and I don't want to think that way of course, but I just hope he comes back, and comes back at 100%)

i dont think tyre's catch was luck, luck if it were something that can be counted as a variable should apply to everyone at any given time. an 80 year old wouldnt be able to make that catch. tyre's catch was just phenomenal and assigning luck to it is not fair to him as an athlete and plus luck is arbitrary anyway.

Any amazing play requires luck. If 99 times out of 100 Manning would have been sacked or forward progress called, thrown the ball away, ball intercepted, not thrown to the 1 perfect spot harrison couldnt deflect it, or Tyre dropping the pass that he pinned to his helmet...
And the 1 in an (arbitrary number) chance that the entire play unfolds..

Not saying everything but how many times does a QB shack a sack -- not too often, but it happens
And in such a play usually QB throws it out of bounds, or scrambles, etc... Manning chucked it up there for grabs, it was lucky Tyre came down with it.

It was an amazing play, it was an amazing game, but I think it was lucky.

ya luck is arbitrary so I can't really debate this topic. its like having a debate if god exists, you can't prove either or. luck can be on the same plane as faith. you cant measure or count it, analyze it. but it was an amazing game. i actually wanted the pats to win I always root for the AFC east if my fins arent in contention, which seems to be happening a lot these past few years. fucking cam cameron that douche.

Tyree made a hell of a catch. He was a play maker when they needed a play.

Jean, I picked up your boy Fasano on my fantasy team since Clark is hurt.

dallas clark's injury sucks, that colts team looked horrendous vs the bears, or the bears are pretty good. Fasano is a good TE pick, since pennington's strengths are those 10-20 yrd plays i think fosano got 7-8 catches for 80+ yrds. ronnie brown might start over ricky williams, ricky didnt look so good vs the jets, maybe because thomas one of our O line was hurt with an 'undisclosed' injury. probably some kind of ligament tear, team dont want to say anything just in case they want to trade him or something.
